The tangles continue. Things have gotten so weird upstairs that tonight I shut off all the lights, turned off the TV and am listening to Nancy Wilson and Mozart (not at the same time). After all, there are occasional big words, gritty and dark bits featuring drug use and violence, and twisty plots require an investment of time and mental focus, for which the reward is commiserate. Unfortunately, there were only old dudes in the audience as there were only two people I saw (both adult children dragged in by their folks) who were younger than 55. Pretty sad to see because, Ian really rocked out – looking extremely young and spry for a 70-something-year-old, and he is singing better than ever.
So the disappointment of seeing the hero of my youth performing to a crowd of geezers was somewhat heartened by the fact that Ian looked and sounded so good – so maybe there is hope still for a geezer such as myself.
I wish every day could be as fun as yesterday was, but it simply cannot be, and I am back to the daily grind of boring, stressful work and overwhelming family obligations, as well as the nerve -wracking experience of pitching my screenplays. The only thing keeping me going is the knowledge that I am about to start a new project – a screenplay (possible novel as well) that I think may have more “commercial” potential, without being a lame sellout.
